As long as Georgia doesn't lose twice, Clemson'll have as good an argument as any 1 loss team. They played a 1-play game vs a top 3 team

There'll be losses by others since there's so much terrible football. Like, U-Wash just got beat by Montana (a FCS quarterfinalist).
the Big Ten is a circle-jerk of mediocrity beyond Ohio State. Michigan is 1 game away from Harbaugh getting fired. Penn State manages every year to choke one away in addition to getting taken out back by Ohio State.
and outside of the top 2-3 in the SEC (Bama / GA / LSU), it's a firing squad. And LSU is in that group now too since they lost the entire 2019 roster.
