For me the more teams argument is to get more underserved teams in.

In the old era, the unbeaten mid-majors won a lot more than they should vs a legitimate top 10 team.
Utah, Boise, TCU, Utah again.
Those teams now don’t sniff the BCS because they don’t get played anymore. You widen the field to 8, one spot should be held for a non-Power 5 team.
