Shouldn't he have had you come back in the morning after having not had two meals before the blood work? That seems odd to me. -- (edited)

I've always had blood taken in the morning after having not eaten from the night before. You don't want your recent meal to screw up the numbers.
And definitely find someone with better bedside manners.
