no. I wouldn't say designed. It is very very new (relatively speaking) and it's volatility reflects that. T think others would argue that as it is

more widely adopted (ie: it's "market cap" increases as more people buy/hold it) that along with a price increase, the volatility will decline. I mean, generally speaking, it has declined quite a bit relative to its inception
I'm mostly of the opinion that other cryptos are merely scams or penny stocks compared to BTC and ETH
