For Star Wars, would you all agree that Ep 1-3 had a better artistic vision and execution than Ep 7-9? -- nm

So the execution of each individual film in 7-9 was good, but the overall vision was a dereliction of duty, you mean? -- nm

I thought 7 was okay. Complete knock off of 4 but not bad. I loved 8’s potential. They immediately pretended it never happened and 9 was so meh

This thread reads a like a bit or something. Yes, 7 was great and clearly the best of 1, 2, 3, 8 and 9.

In comparison it is nearly. Look at it like this, where was the story at the end of 6 compared to the end of 9? Practically in the same exact place, except we know Luke, Han and Leia are dead, as well as their children. -- nm*

I liked 7 and 8. But 9 purposefully undid all of the potential of those two. Made the whole exercise generic and conformist. -- nm

I'm trying to gauge if letting a creator run rampant on their own vision is superior to letting a corporation approach it cynically. -- nm

it depends on the creator. Lucas w/ 1-3 had a blurry vision dressed up in shiny crap. -- nm

Okay, how about Lana Wachowski? I'm betting that's going to be far sharper of a vision. -- nm

I think it was craftily put together so as not to reveal the true plot.

The biggest problem I had with 3 is I thought it was a bad ending. But now, it was not the ending. So yeah, I look forward to re-watching,

7, 8 and 9 were all over the place. Add to that they were a retread of 4-6 and they get knocked below 1-3. -- nm
