I thought it was saying you had to upgrade 2 drives at a time. But that would mess up the parity. I think what it is actually saying is that you will not benefit from the extra space until both new drives are installed. So I would have to do one at a time and rebuild between the installs.

Now I guess I just have to decide if I want to buy an expansion NAS or just replace the drives. I'd hate to just pull 2x4TB drives and not use them. They aren't that old.
