Because they are the opposition. Seriously, it’s parliamentary tradition to vote against budgets, throne speeches, etc if in opposition.

It’s not an accurate reading that such votes are earnest statements on the status of the Gov’t.

(And again, Trudeau didn’t have to call the election. There is no evidence he had any opposition to his agenda during COVID. None. He called an election that will be mostly status quo outcomes and did it on the back of driving wedge divisions on vaccination policy by suggesting the vaccination policy he announced 48 hours before the election was completely at humanitarian odds with *his own vaccination policies of earlier this summer*. Like, that’s just being recklessly disruptive.)
