Given it's only a weapon really when the Dems are in power ... I don't think it matters. They'll do what they want

I don't recall the Debt Ceiling being a consideration when Trump et al pushed through his trillion dollar debt busting tax cuts.
There are no fiscal conservatives anymore with any legitimate backbone. There are fiscal partisans who bemoan the spending when it's not them spending it, but otherwise, they rubberstamp the policies of their team.
