Infrastructure bill has already passed the senate. The reconciliation spending bill is still being worked out. -- (edited)

Progressives believe their only shot at getting the latter more to their liking is to use the former as leverage. Moderates appear to be more concerned with stopping the progressives than not gifting congress back to the republicans in 2022.
