They've been saying it since it opened and, meanwhile, SWF has continued to lose service as people drive to the city for non-stops and better prices

Unless LGA/EWR/JFK **CLOSE** (or at least one of them closes) *AND* a high speed one-seat train from midtown to SWF is built, I just don't see it alas.
It's unfortunate, it was my first airport and it has the space and the runway (it can land the space shuttle!) but without an express train, it's just too far from the city for people to consider.
