Also note, there are a wide variety of these. If you are replacing it, note the number and type of ports (USB, Ethernet/Network, HDMI, DisplayPort)

and make sure what you are replacing it with has what you need

there are some dongles that can replace simple docks. I have one of those at home. it has usbc, hdmi, usb reg. works in a pinch. -- nm

Yup. I have 2 different Dell docking stations, and they're very different (i.e., they're not interchangeable.) -- nm
