house to hide where you would not be visible from a window* or from a doorway.

You couldn't hide inside something like a closet, or you couldn't hide under something like a bed.

I was surprised how hard it was to find "safe" spots.

I still do this mentally some times even now.

*you have to assume that the killer is at the level of the window - so a 2nd floor window wouldn't be safe just because the person was assumed to be on the ground
