I highly recommend Andy Serkis' directorial debut - Breathe. -- (edited)

It bombed horrifically at the box office ($500k domestic), and was ignored by critics. It's a classic tearjerker combined with an inspiring true story. It's what used to win Best Picture, but isn't in fashion anymore.

Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy give amazing performances. The music and look of the film is nostalgic for old Hollywood. Robin Cavendish made so many disabled people's lives better. Even if you don't like the movie, googling him after you watch it will warm your heart.

I saw it with my wife and Jack Dawson at TIFF. In addition to Claire Foy, Andrew Garfield and Andy Serkis speaking after the movie, Jonathan Cavendish (Robin's real life son) produced the movie and spoke for a few minutes.

He brought his mother (played by Claire Foy), and the collective sobs of the audience were loud.

Also, the real life video in the end credits is wonderful.
