The best proposal I've seen lately has been "Explorer's Day."


I support Indigenous People's Day. It's well worthwhile.

And I think Columbus should be honored for his accomplishments as an explorer even when we recognize the dishonor of the atrocities he initiated.

But there were explorers who arrived in North America well before he did. So why don't we recognize all those who discovered different parts of "the New World" (so to speak) -- recognize all the communities of people who were already here and who demonstrate there was nothing "new" to discover.
