to me a Crossover is basically just what you said, a version of a Station Wagon, but with extra ride height in most cases.
most entry level "SUVs" are really more of the CUV/Crossover format

I definitely looked at the Subaru also. It really was a choice between the Kia, Subaru, Toyota RAV4 Prime and the Ford Escape
