how was my weekend? well, let's just say i'm stranded in saugerties, ny when i was supposed to be in maine on saturday.

friday, left in the afternoon, nice drive, stayed in a state forest in PA.. beautiful time out boondocking. saturday decide to head to NH to see a friend before maine. not really out of the way, but it's a good day of driving (9 or 10 hours). we get to ... saugerties... and hear the scream of belts from the engine, which sits under a hatch between the driver and passenger seats.

we get off the road, check things, then hop up to a text pull off that smells like so much piss. we start overheating. the engine fan is off axis, hitting on the radiator shroud. we start doing research, tightening belts, checking, come up empty. i call a shop that's 9 miles away. surely we can make it 9 miles. there is an rv park across the street that has a spot for us (!!!!). we drive 1 mile, overheat. sit for 45 minutes. go farther, get off the highway, and realize we're going to blow a head gasket if we keep pushing.

no hotels, it's apparently wedding season. we boondock in the park and ride, meet a guy who was sleeping in the bus shelter because he couldn't afford weekend rates at the hotels. we both get into a hotel sunday afternoon.

all this time, trying to get a tow. it's impossible. apparently sundays are for long haul wrecker drives, so they're scattered all over. this morning, no problem, RV is now being towed to the shop i talked to. we're almost 48 hours later, finally getting it looked at.

buying AAA, should have had it before...

here's hoping they knock this thing out today, we can get the hell out of here tomorrow. but it's also a 1993 vehicle, no idea how fast they can get parts.

RV life is grand.
