My last four or five phones (since I switched to Android) have all been purchased from a retailer and I just called Verizon and said "make this work on my account." The process is simple once they know what you want to do.

In your case bc you are time tight, I would go buy an unlocked phone, take it to a Verizon store, and say "make this work." Once you get back you can decide if you want to dump Verizon.

  - Payment plans, but $300-650 off the regular price and then they force a payment plan so you don't leave for another provider. -- nm - jnine Oct 22, 18:06
