I read the original for the first time this summer. One thing that stuck with me ... (novel spoilers, dune spoilers, etc)

Is the absolute and complete clusterfuck that Lady Jessica delivers to the Bene Gesserit. Like, not just the choice to have a boy, who happened to become the KH, but also hijacking the Protectiva myths to become a renegade reverend mother & creating St Alia of the Knife in the process. If it had been intentional vengeance, it could hardly have been more satisfyingly complete. Five thousand years of planning, manipulation, societal engineering, all brought to heel by one damned powerful woman and her determination to live her life the way she herself wanted to.
At least, that was my takeaway.
