The Complete World Knowledge books are some of the funniest deadpan humor I’ve ever read, and the audiobooks are also a treat.

In like 2005 he put out a book called The Areas of My Expertise. It’s an almanac of trivia, all of which is made up. I remember finding the audiobook because for some reason iTunes gave it away for free. When I listened to it, it was exactly my type of subtle, dry humor. When you listen to it, you wonder why Hodgman is speaking in a droll, almost monotone voice. It turns out that he’s not famous yet at the time he wrote it and recorded the audiobook. He went on the Daily Show to promote it, absolutely killed Jon Stewart with his deadpan and that’s what led to him getting cast as the PC in the Apple ads, despite (I think) no previous acting experience.
