Though private high school would have been subject to NY state requirements to I would expect?

My high school had roughly 1600 people over grades 9-12 so about 400 people in my class year (a bit less I think but let's round). So, estimating roughly, there would have been around 12-15 English classes a year for my grade. And each teacher chose their own reading list (from the broader list defined by the state and district).

So basically the year half the people I knew were reading Of Mice and Men, I was in a class with a teacher who apparently didn't love that book and chose a different book from the list.

- There is a limit to which books can be assigned by each teacher simply because the school won't have enough copies of the book for each student. - Krusty Oct 27, 08:08
