I used an electric stovetop recently and while it worked fine it was hard to judge how high/hot the pan was getting.

Setting it to 4 or 5 doesn't tell me much. With my gas stove I can see the flame and after decades of cooking I know what low, medium and high look like and how it will affect my cooking.

It would take a while to adjust to the electric and I'd likely ruin some meals but I think eventually I could get used to it.
