some folks keep a squad of slingers for this, you can build 20-30-50 in a few hours and throw them and a couple are sure to survive no matter how...

strong the enemy is, at least the first round, on the other hand, you can send a couple to an undefended no wall lvl one town and loose a couple tripping over their own shoelaces, go figure.
