I'd rather risk a solar spill or wind leakage than rely on systems (run to maximize profit) to prevent deadly accidents

Also, wind and solar can go down in pieces without overly affecting the whole. A coal/gas/nuclear plant goes down, the risk of the grid going down is a lot higher.

I think the answer is distributed power production and storage. A lot less risk, and a lot more resilient.
