OK folks, help me please. I know nothing about the Switch. Do I need physical games for him to play, or can we download stuff?

Found an Animal Crossing Switch online still in stock. I'm guessing that doesn't come with the game? (He has no idea what that is anyway, he will want Minecraft and Among Us)
