It's less about the cap and trade, and more about the bullshit that comes with it. I spent hours reading this bill and it includes:
-outlawing the manufacturing of incandescent compatable lamps
-enacting a nationwide building code that will require massive overhauls to homes before you can sell them. does a home in florida really have the same requirements as a home in montana? it'll jack up prices unnecissarily for potential homebuyers and price a lot of people out of homes altogether. oh, did i mention that they can change the standards at any time for any reason, rendering the money you spent useless?
-the idea that you can force "innovation" is laughable. are companies really not trying to make advances? BP invested billions into researching solar power only to find that it's just not a viable power solution.
there's so many more..
i'm also pissed as anything about the fact that congress voted on a 1200 page bill that had a massive add on dropped in 14 hours before the bill was voted on - not to mention the bill isn't even in a finished form. there's entire sections of mandates that i wanted to read that are just chapter heading, no content at all.
it's just so all-encompassing. by the time all the taxes and mandates and fucking nonsense gets sorted out, there will be no cap and trade - just high power bills and companies leaving the US.
