Hopefully in the form of subsidies for people needing to buy an EV and not subsidies to prop up the petroleum industry.

There should also be a program to retrofit gas stations to serve electric vehicles (and to remove gas storage tanks before they become a leeching hazard).
The petroleum industry can pound sand if they come asking for a handout. They've had plenty of warning that their product is going to see a huge reduction in demand.
