That number sounds amazing for Premiere Access until you dig into it a bit.
Last year that number was $550 million with 11 PPV events + Mulan's Premiere Access release.
This year, it's $933 million for 13 PPV events + Premiere Access (Raya + Cruella + Black Widow + Jungle Cruise).
Also, it's never a good sign of profit if Disney is bundling the Premiere Access numbers in with PVV numbers. It shows they don't want to show that number by itself because it's not impressive.
I've seen a pretty solid estimate saying that each PPV event would average around $43 million. That leaves around $374 million for 4 films. We already know Black Widow made around $125 million. So, that's around $250 million for the other 3 films. That's not enough to make Black Widow or Jungle Cruise profitable. It makes Cruella and Raya washes or making just a tiny profit.
At some point, Premiere Access will be a huge moneymaker for Disney, but it didn't do that in 2021. Which explains why they haven't put a film on the service since Jungle Cruise, and no other movies are scheduled to be on it going forward.
