College Champions League. How many team each year have a legit shot at the championship at the beginning of the season? 20? 40 if we’re being generous? So why not just take the top 20 (or 40) teams from a given year, draw them into four (or eight) groups of five to play their out of conference games the following year. Top overall record in each group goes to the playoffs.
