Our software sends out email, sometimes thousands a day.
Sometimes, the email fails....usually because the sender didn't specify a To: address or something like that.
I have a report that monitors the email outbox. Since I wouldn't know personally if email failed,
I have a report that checks to see if there is any failed email. The report is scheduled to email to me every day at 2pm if there's any failed email. I then go in and delete the failed messages.
Yesterday I looked at my admin dashboard. There's a small panel that shows me if there is any failed email. I was surprised to see that there were ~600 or so.
I started looked through the failed messages, and some are several weeks old. I wondered why I didn't get any of the failed email reports.
I look at the top of the report (showing the most recent failed emails) and at the top are.....
yep, failed email messages to me containing the output of the report.
So, for some reason, the emails telling me that there were failed emails in the system had failed.
