The issue F1 has compared to basically every sport is decisions have to be made in seconds while w everything is in motion and then communicated.

It’s a logistical nightmare. You can’t just pause and decide.
I think it was shady as shit but I can also see the logic of wanting the race to end as a race and not behind the safety car.
This also makes me wonder how they did any of this even ten years ago in terms of communication, etc.
