Though they still included it as one of only three eligibility requirements, and in drafting it was changed from 'citizen' to 'natural born citizen'.

There was concern about the influence of foreigners on a new nation, etc and no one wanted the King of Engand walking in any time he wanted and shoving people around.
But all I'm saying is that it's a continuation of the same debate (not that the people who wrote the Constitution made the right choice)
