In response to "Folks who did 23andMe, Ancestry, etc, what was your experience? what things did you learn? -- nm" by loosilu

I think I win this one hands down. I found out my father is not my biological father.

Long story I think I've told here before. It was actually not my dna test, but my sister and my daughter. My sister did hers and it showed that she had 5 or 6 half-sisters. They wound up contacting each other. All of their mothers used the same OB GYN and they were all born at the same hospital. Also showed my daughter as being one further removed from sister than she should have been. Long story short(er), my mother was apparently artificially inseminated. She never told my father or any of us. She took the knowledge to the grave. Recently, after my sister told one of our cousins, our aunt told us the story. She was the only one who knew. My sister was ultimately able to figure out who her biological father was. Amazingly it was a doctor whose daughter wound up marrying a guy that grew up down the street from us. Just crazy.
