awesome! I have turned out to be the family historian so this is my job. -- (edited)

thru ancestry documentation, learned the origin of my last name, which has been a complete mystery with wrong oral histories. It's a rare name, about 300 people in the US and 65 in Germany. Maybe 20 or so in Denmark. There's an alternate spelling we were COMPLETELY unaware of, which is a double L, and the numbers of people with that spelling are equivalent to the spelling we know, in Germany and the US. There's also a small group in Australia with the double L.

I am very happy I was able to tell my dad and aunt the real origin. It's northern Germany very close to Denmark.
