Not related, I was up until like 3 in the morning trying to learn about whole home audio in a futile attempt to help my sister get her house hooked up again. -- (edited)

She has a proprietary system called Crestron that came with the house when she bought it and is very outdated. They want tens of thousands of dollars to upgrade it. She doesn't want to spend that money. She wants to use the existing speakers in the ceiling, walls and outdoor areas though. The speakers are good speakers but I don't know if the wiring from them is going to be an issue.
The forums I read were informative but at times hard to understand as I don't know all the terminology.
I really want to help her figure this out but it might be a bit too much for me.
