As much as I hated to see May die, it was necessary to give this Peter the gravitas that the role needs. He was basically a kid trying to be a kid and spider-man. His character always felt light next to Tobey Maguire's. He needed the pain of responsibility for the character to grow. She was his Uncle Ben. By the way, Tobey is still the best Spiderman. When he stops Holland from killing GG and gives him that look of caring, it's just fantastic.
