1) We don't know it's never going away. I think it's more likely to mutate into something more innocuous then it is to stay around forever.

2) If you think 1 is me living in a fantasy, then tell me why Delta went away after a few months? Why did the other variants go away? If they can go away without explanation, why can't the whole virus? The theory is that Spanish Flu mutated into what we currently call the flu, but we don't know that for sure. It could have just run its course.
3) It's not a given everyone will get this. Certain countries have been vigilant about keeping it out so far. Certain people stay home and don't have interactions with people indoors. Last I saw the estimate for the United States was under 40% of people have had COVID.
