2) Yes, viruses do go away to a great degree. Are we still dealing with H1N1? SARS? H3N2?

There's a ton of viruses that have run their course. That's why the prevailing thought at the beginning of COVID was to bunker down for 6 weeks, and wait this out. Because some viruses do go away. This one has lasted two years, but that doesn't mean it will be here forever.
