It's worth remembering too that Delta was both more transmissible and also more likely to put people in hospital, in the ICU, or in the mortuary than

There's an assumption of a trade-off between transmissibility and seriousness, and while that may be true of COVID as a whole as it moves to being endemic, it doesn't hold true for each individual strain
