At this point I don't think it's in Kaepernick's interest to play in the NFL.

While he's still probably better than a lot of the things NFL teams have been using as starting QBs recently, he hasn't played in 5 years and is also 5 years older.

He's probably currently a good enough QB to be on an NFL roster, but I doubt he would be that successful. I mean, better than Ian Book isn't a high bar to clear at that level. He was certainly blacklisted, but at this point I doubt he really wants to join a roster as a backup, and I don't think any team where he could be a starter would be a place where he could be successful. My guess is that at this point he's better off as an activist.
