You're so focused on what you're getting in the deal that you're missing something basic here. He cannot decide where his picks go in terms of the draft. He cannot say, "Well, that guy should be a sixth rounder." If we allowed that, everyone would swear that all their players were at the bottom of the draft, allowing them to pick earlier.

If Crash keeps six guys in your scenario, he doesn't have anything he can trade until round 7. You cannot say "but he gave me a third rounder" and pick there. You can only do that if he has a third rounder to give, which only the worst teams will do.
