Every durable genre is going to have its purists. If labels weren't so quick to drop artists instead of developing them like they used to, petty fan -- (edited)

complaints like this would be moot.
Edit: New fan bases and genres and subgenres would come about. New revenue streams with big label muscle behind them. Instead what we have since the 2000s is labels dropping their artists with a precipitous frequency. We think that's the norm now, but for decades it wasn't that way.
