TSA Precheck vs. Global Entry

Reports are all over the place. From “days” (for *either* of them) to “90 days or more”. The TSA website asks “Are you *sure* you want Global Entry? TSA Precheck approval is faster!” I wonder if I should apply for both and just take the hit.

  - I know nothing about Canada but Global Entry + PreCheck are part of what the TSA calls Trusted Traveler programs I believe. - ty97 Jan 8, 11:28
I had a free trial for one of these, which turned out to be "pay to cut ahead of this long line to the same scanner" - Max Jan 8, 09:20 14
