But I guess it wasn't activated yet. The government asked them to delay activating and the provider declined.

I believe the FAA has 'cleared' most aircraft types at this point as being okay, but they haven't yet cleared two Boeing planes (777 and 787) that are used very heavily in long haul international flying.

This would only become in a (potential) issue in landing with weather/visibility impacts apparently, but I guess when you are flying 10-16 hours to the US, you can't know for sure what the weather will be like when you get there?
