The internet as a whole, perhaps. But people leading their lives more virtually through social media has proven over and over again to be problematic

People who spend more time on social media are less happy. Kids are becoming more socially isolated and mental health issues are rising. Misinformation runs rampant and is literally destroying democracy. The companies that lead these things are manipulative and corrupt. The more immersive, the more ripe for problems it becomes.
