I see that said in DC but it doesn't solve the issue of visitors arriving by car and not able to find parking to reach transit.

Enforcement has to come with the creation of these bus and bike lanes otherwise drivers will just ignore it and park wherever they want.

Self-driving/connected cars. If every car can communicate with each other you eliminate backs and could communicate lack of parking. -- nm

there's a ton of research that shows that adding lanes to existing highways does nothing to alleviate traffic. the only good solution is mass transit

Induced demand. It happens with every road that gets widened. It won't alleviate traffic to add more lanes. Adding public transit that works well

our bike lanes they made a huge deal about here are now filled with dead leave, branches, trash, and then abruptly are just not there -- nm

*smh* That's basically as good as not having built them. They must be maintained just like the maintain the roads. NYC bought small plows so

I'd go further and suggest that mass transit is only a portion of the solution. It works best when paired with pedestrian & bicycle infrastructure. -- nm

And culturally, we just don't mind living far away from our jobs. Automobile interiors have only gotten nicer and nicer. -- nm

Well, I did mind. But I also sorta liked the period of time where I was taking mass transit. Gave a nice prologue and epilogue to the work day.

That doesn't stop many people. I see a lot of people on bikes throughout the day and I don't mean delivery people. I'm not doing it but

Not a replicatable issue when we don’t allow many dispensaries or legal hookers. -- nm

I'm all in favor of many dispensaries and legal sex work over building more roads or creating more parking. Give me weed, hookers and a bike lane! -- nm
