In response to "Would you recommend The Great Courses? I got a flyer and I'm thinking of buying their Spanish class next paycheck. -- nm" by crash davis

Yes with caveats -- (edited)

I've only experienced them in audiobook form from the library on Libby. I haven't seen their visual material. I know that some courses come with visual aides and reading materials. I assume those are excellent since it's real live professors.

Try investigating the professor for the course you're interested in. You should find they are a top authority in their field. The first couple lectures should tell you all you need to know about whether you can hang with them for the whole series.

Each lecture is short enough that you can be very productive doing just a half hour/45 mins a day. Very good casual learning for people with busy lives. Each course could be like 40-50 lectures. Ish.

It will be thorough and should provide everything you need for your subject.
