So - I took it to the Chamber and they turned it down - so I next pitched it at my Rotary meeting on Tuesday and it's a go!
I think it will be better too because instead of selling to random people on line - our club members will sell it to friends and family (like we do with a venison dinner project) - and can try to pick people that will be kind - buy more food and some drinks to go with the free burger - and make it a good experience for the restaurant and wait staff. (we have some mean tourists and it's been going on even longer than the pandemic here) So hopefully this promotion will be a welcome respite for being locals that aren't assholes.
the cards are going to be sold for $35 or 2 for $60 - we'll have 15 restaurants total participating - and it goes from 2/1 through 4/30.
We are targeting to sell 150 people buying the 2 for $60 deal to promote it as a "date night" thing - and will profit at $9000 with only about $500 cost.
So far - 7 of my 15 restaurants have confirmed - I'll know by Friday if my top picks are all in - if not - I have another 10 that are back up.
If this goes well - my plan is to add 5 more restaurants - start selling in November - have the 2023 go from January through the end of April and bump the price to $50 or $75 for 2.
We'll have the first 150 in an email data base to re-sell to - and will just ask them if they have any friends or family that would buy 2 - and we'll build it each year this way until the restaurants tell us we've exceeded their amount to give out ... but hopefully we'll get to the point where we have 1000 or so regular buyers and this will fund a lot of our community projects and non-profit support that we do each year.
I'll circle back with the final wrap up after sales - keep your fingers crossed for me everyone!
ON a totally separate note - some guy in a jeep though he'd play demolition derby with me in a loaner car last Saturday - mine is in the shop getting repaired from hitting a deer in December ... the shop has their logo on the car - Lake Area Collision - who knows - maybe the guy who hit me had something against them? Anyway - the 2019 Nissan Versa I was in got hit on the driver's side - back door - it spun me around and fortunately for me - that inertia took the brunt of the hit and I wasn't jostled too badly - just have sore muscles on my left side and each day gets a little better. First crash I've had since I was in my 20's and now that I'm 61 - it takes a little longer to heal I'm finding.
Not the way to start the new year!
Hope all are well - and I'm behind on sending cards - but I will - they will probably be Valentines Cards now ... I just got hit with Covid at Thanksgiving and then hit a deer and now this - it's just been too much. SO ... apologies for delayed card sending.
Cheers - JenBro

Good grief that's a lot for one season. Work on this burger card thing, it could go national like those entertainment books -- nm
