US spacecraft and we're going back to the moon as well as plans for Mars so there's as much a need for astronauts as perhaps anytime in US space history.
There's also as variety of launch vehicles these days (if SLS ever gets sorted that'd be another) so multiple spacecraft and multiple rockets to achieve orbital velocity.
At the same time the ISS is going to be retired so that's one less destination
