So, yeah, in the last 24 hours, we sold a car and signed the paperwork for a house.

The car story is quick but funny. Six months ago, we had new tires put on both cars. The Honda dealership noticed the mileage and asked if we'd thought about selling one of them. Each was under 40k after five/six years.
The dealer gave us a quote for the Honda that was fair but not as much as we'd have gotten for it via private sale. So, we passed. On Monday, they hit us up out of nowhere and offered $2,000 more.
Kim told them thanks but no. We said the least we would take was $5,000 more than their offer six months ago. She figured she'd never hear back from them again. We had the check in hand the following day.
As for the house:
Pippy, it's about 6.7 miles from here. They've built 115 homes in a subdivision in a calendar year. We're getting one of the last batch.
The house was a slab two weeks ago but has since been framed in. They're saying it'll be ready in four months. We're braced for five or six, which is messy since our lease runs out in mid-June. We don't know whether we will have to leave early or stay late. We also cannot lock in a rate yet due to the vagueness of the move-in date.
Kelly, we did go with DR Horton. It's lot #14 at Coward Mills if you want to look at it. There's framework up.
Shaun, we have definite plans for a home theater and an arcade.
Max, the secret passages don't come until later when people have forgotten about the idea.
Oh, and in a Sliding Doors scenario, this was supposed to be the first day of our Disney vacation with the PFMs.
I need a beer. And a valium. And a nap. And my heart rate to drop in half.

used cars are inflating faster than anything, than real estate, so blue book values are usually behind, watch out if you total your car -- nm
