The percentage of popular vote is perceived to influence the "mandate." Also, it could affect future presidential campaigns in your state.

Personally, when the presidential candidate is a foregone conclusion in my state, I vote for the candidate I most believe in.
Of course, I also want to express my opinion on all the other ballot issues. I know the significance of ballot issues varies considerably by state, though.
